Your go-to source for motorhome security
WOMOFIX is now a specialist in mechanical security solutions for motorhomes and campervans based on the Fiat Ducato, as well as the closely related Peugeot Boxer and Citroën Jumper. We don’t just sell products: we help customers work out which weak points on their vehicle actually matter and which solution makes sense. If you’re unsure, our break-in protection configurator takes you through the options in just a few steps and shows you the products that fit your vehicle.
Who’s behind WOMOFIX
I’m Andreas Janisch, a mechanical engineer (Dipl.-Ing., TU Wien). Before WOMOFIX, I worked independently as a sourcing agent in steel fabrication, matching steelwork and mechanical-engineering companies with suitable manufacturing partners for structural steelwork, fabricated steel components and CNC-machined parts. That kind of work trains you to look at components in a particular way: you learn to see how a part is made, what it should realistically cost and which supplier can manufacture it to the required standard.
How it started
In 2021 we switched from a caravan to a Peugeot Boxer. For a while we had both, and we converted the Boxer ourselves bit by bit. Anyone who looks into Ducato-based vehicles soon comes across a well-known weak point: the thin sheet metal beneath the door handle, with the central-locking linkage directly behind it. That is what thieves exploit in the so-called “pricking” attack.
Protective plates were already available from several suppliers at the time. But in the post-Covid period, prices for this kind of accessory were high, and you needed good supplier relationships to get suitable parts in decent quality at all. That was exactly my field. I had the first protective plate made for our own vehicle – a precise fit, in 1.5 mm stainless steel, by a supplier I trusted. Then I had a few made for other Boxer and Ducato owners, and later sold some on eBay. “A few” turned into a small online shop, and that shop became Prickstop.com. The principle has stayed the same ever since: a security component should cost what it is actually worth.
From protective plate to in-house development: Anti-Prick Pro
One day a customer came to me with a driver’s door that had already been attacked using this method. A bodyshop repair would have cost several hundred euros – and afterwards the door still would not have had any extra protection against another break-in attempt. So we developed a solution that does both at once: an external stainless-steel plate that covers the damaged area and protects the door against the next attempt. That became WOMOFIX Anti-Prick Pro.
The visible version has another advantage that became clear through sales: a plate that can be seen from outside acts as a deterrent before anyone even tries. That is why customers with completely undamaged doors now choose the Pro version as well. Today we sell roughly as many Pro versions as the hidden internal plate, and demand for the Pro version is growing faster.
More products – each developed to solve a specific problem
PedalLock came about because there were no complete pedal-lock kits on the market. Most systems are sold without the lock – you have to buy it separately, and the combination ends up costing more than a well-designed complete kit. So we developed one.
EasyGrip, our sliding-door handle, took the longest to get right. The standard handle in a Fiat Ducato is designed for delivery vans, where the sliding door is hardly ever operated from inside. It is tiny, there is no separate pull handle, and once door trim or a heavier window has been fitted, getting the door properly shut from inside becomes awkward. I started by developing different designs using a 3D printer – with many iterations, because space behind the door is tight. The first small batches were 3D-printed, but the finish and quality were not good enough for us. So we invested in proper injection moulding: significant tooling costs, calculations and simulation with an external engineering partner, prototypes and testing. The result is a handle made from glass-fibre-reinforced nylon with an embedded metal insert – strong, ergonomic and comfortable to grip. It is not a security product, but it is the product that gets our best reviews.
Then came the rear-door lock, BlueLock for the AdBlue tank, CabBar and AirClamp.
Why Ducato, Boxer and Jumper
We develop for the Fiat Ducato and its sister models first because we drive a Boxer ourselves. Every product is developed, fitted and tested in everyday use on our own vehicle before it goes into the shop. We are constantly working on new projects, and as the business grew, setting up JANSTAHL GmbH was the next logical step.
Where we are today
- Manufacturer with in-house product development, based in Vienna – operating as JANSTAHL GmbH since 2026
- Several thousand units sold through our own online shop, Amazon and specialist retailers
- More than 70 installation partners across Germany, Austria and Switzerland
- We also stock products from other manufacturers such as HEOSafe and 3GAS+ wherever they fill a gap in the range better than our own products can
Why we talk so much about break-ins
The advice on this site is not simply an add-on to the shop. If you understand how a pricking attack works, why the passenger door does not need a protective plate, or when an additional lock is the better option, you are much less likely to buy the wrong product – and you may find that you do not need some products at all. We think information should come first. And if you would rather be guided step by step to the right protection for your vehicle, our break-in protection configurator will take you through it.
