HEOSafe Auxiliary Lock for Body Doors & Exterior Hatches

The HEOSafe auxiliary lock is a robust lock for exterior hatches, rear garages and habitation doors on motorhomes and caravans. It is also suitable for doors and hatches on sales and service vehicles – wherever a hatch or door needs an additional mechanical lock. The lock can be conveniently locked and unlocked from the inside using a rotary knob and from the outside using the key.

How it works

The bolt engages behind the door frame and locks the hatch mechanically. The lock consists of an inner and outer housing that are screwed together, clamping the door between them; in many cases, no additional reinforcement of the door is required. From the inside, the lock is operated using the integrated rotary knob; from the outside, it is operated via the security lock cylinder with key.

Check before drilling

The lock is highly versatile, but it does not fit every installation situation without adjustment. Please check the gap dimension (adjustable from 2–22 mm using the spacer plates), the door thickness (20–90 mm; longer screws may be required for very thick doors), a sufficiently strong substrate and an adequately flat mounting surface. Thin sandwich-panel hatches may require additional reinforcement.

Note: Do not use a cordless screwdriver for final tightening. The locking direction is factory-set to clockwise and can be changed if required.

Frequently asked questions

Does the lock fit every exterior hatch?

It is highly versatile, but the decisive factors are a door thickness of 20–90 mm, the gap dimension that can be adjusted using spacer plates, and a flat mounting surface. Very thin hatches may require reinforcement.

If I order several, are they keyed alike?

No. These are individual locks, each supplied with its own key. If you need a keyed-alike set of this type for a Fiat Ducato, these are available together with the auxiliary locks for the cab doors: for the older cab version and for the newer cab version. Alternatively, please contact us via the contact form or by email for an individual quotation for made-to-order production.

Can I operate the lock from both inside and outside?

Yes. From the inside it is locked and unlocked using the rotary knob; from the outside using the key.

What should I consider with very thick doors?

The lock is designed for 20–90 mm. Depending on the set, longer screws may be required; the standard screws often cover door thicknesses up to around 45 mm.

How can I tell before buying whether my hatch is suitable?

Check the door thickness, gap dimension and mounting surface. This helps avoid incorrect drilling.
